How do I convert an audio CD that is recorded under a windows media format, to an Mp3 to be put on ipod?

The Audio CD is recorded under windows media and can only be listened to on my computer. I need to put it on my ipod or at least be able to record it to be able to listen to it on a disc with my CD player in my car. I am a bit computer illiterate, obviously. Thanks for the help.
