Hmmmm...what does this mean?

Theres a guy at my school, i really liked him a couple weeks after he moved here. He found out quickly(small town) and he paid no attention to it. Then we were both at a party and he and i got along really well and we were flirting a lot. When scool started back up we became really good friends and would flirt all the time, and ppl told me all the time he liked me. But then he went out with another girl and he paid more attention to me than her? I dont get it, what does all that mean?
